Adult Art Classes | Term 3
Treat yourself to two hours each week to slow down, create and reconnect through art.
This beautiful 9-week term is designed for beginners and those who have dabbled in art before and would like to build their skills in a relaxed, supportive environment. With small class sizes, you'll receive plenty of individual guidance while enjoying the inspiration and friendship of creating alongside others.
Throughout the term we'll explore a range of artistic techniques, including:
Drawing fundamentals
Perspective, form and value
Shading and observation
Pastel techniques
Painting and colour exploration
Creative exercises to build confidence and develop your own artistic style
Classes are held in the charming Quilters' Cottage at Keirunga, providing a peaceful and inspiring space to learn and create.
Thursdays | 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
23rd July-24th September (No class 10th Sept)
Enjoy a cup of tea, great conversation and a welcoming creative community as you develop your artistic skills at your own pace.
Please note: Enrolment is for the full 9-week term, allowing everyone to progress together and gain the most from the course.

Children's After-School Art Classes | Term 3
Join us for a creative and inspiring term of art in our warm and welcoming Quilters' Cottage at Keirunga.
These small group classes provide a nurturing environment where children can develop confidence, creativity and artistic skills while making new friends. Each week we'll explore a variety of exciting mediums including painting, drawing, pastel work and clay modelling, with projects designed to encourage imagination, self-expression and a love of creating.
Whether your child is just beginning their artistic journey or already loves making art, these classes are suitable for all experience levels.
Class Options
Monday: Ages 6 to 12 years
Monday Teen Class: Ages 13+ years
Wednesday: Ages 6 to 12 years
30th July-23rd September (no class 7 & 8 September) 3.30pm-4.40pm
Please note: Enrolment is for the full term. There are no classes during the week of 7-9 September.
All quality art materials are provided. Just bring along a smile, a drink bottle and clothes that are happy to get a little colourful!

Join us for a heartwarming creative experience designed for parents, grandparents, caregivers and children to connect through the joy of art.
Guided in a relaxed and supportive environment, you'll explore the beauty of soft pastel techniques and clay modelling, creating side by side while sharing quality time together.
Held within the peaceful Homestead at Keirunga, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the gardens, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, create lasting memories and enjoy a meaningful afternoon together.
All art materials and a delicious afternoon tea are included.

Special Visit from Nelson Family Descendant
Keirunga Homestead recently welcomed a very special visitor. Emma Beresford, the great-granddaughter of George Nelson, visited from overseas and toured the historic property for the first time during her trip to Hawke’s Bay.
George and Elizabeth Nelson gifted seven hectares of the Keirunga property to the Havelock North Borough Council in 1956, with the homestead later becoming home to the Keirunga Gardens Arts and Crafts Society.
Since 1966, the Society has leased and cared for the homestead and gardens, preserving this historic site for the community to enjoy.
Emma and her husband Tam were welcomed by members of the Society and local representatives, sharing morning tea in the homestead dining room where George Nelson once dined nearly a century ago. It was a meaningful moment celebrating the legacy of the Nelson family and the ongoing care of Keirunga Gardens.
